The grandeur of old Calcutta buildings is giving away to cramped pigeon holes. The landscape of the city is ever changing. The city of palaces is slowly becoming city of flats.
Those red oxide floor, sprawling courtyard and terraces, ornamental grilles on the balconies, the high ceilings and shuttered windows are slowly disappearing.
@Parama_g is a nostalgia junkie. A woman who lives in the past. While always finding ways to do her own own bit in preserving heritage of the city, she also came up with the idea of preserving the aesthetics of Calcutta grille patterns by embroidering them on clothes. From mansions to book stores, from famous Bonedi baris to humble buildings in the serpentine lanes of North Calcutta, @parama_g has been documenting them all.
She is converting those grille patterns from balconies and windows into embroidered stories on fabric. @parama_g series start with three grille patterns. One from the palatial Laha Bari, one from the stunning Modern book agency in College Street and the other from a dilapidated house from Sobhabazar.
